[ back ]     The Role of the Regional Co-Ordinator

Regional Co-ordinators provide a contact between the Family Group Director
and the parishes belonging to the Passionist Family Group Movement.

Regional co-ordinators …

§         can be a couple or part of a team or a single person.

§         need to be competent, enthusiastic and have a real understanding of the aims and goals of the PFGM.

§         are accountable to the FG Director and should keep in regular contact
(e.g. every two months). They will need to take the initiative in making contact with the people for whom they are responsible.

§         are expected to assist parish FGs which experience difficulties. The three most common ways of assisting would be:

a)     attend a meeting of leaders in each parish at least once a year.

b)     meet with the parish co-ordinators ( not just phone contact )

c)      meet with the pastor

§         are responsible for the development of FGs within their region. They are encouraged to build a supportive network for the Co-ordinators of the area. Such a network would involve them meeting 2-3 times a year.

Whenever there is a change of pastor he should be contacted within 6 weeks of his arrival, and a visit arranged so that his and their role within the movement can be explained.

When there is a change in Co-ordinators in a parish, Regional Co-ordinators ought to be involved in ensuring that the new Co-ordinators understand the role and that they be assured of the support available to them.
