Peter McGrath's Parramatta eye view!
The caption
says it all. With Mary Ingham and Dennis & Elizabeth Farrar,
we were able to take part in adding to the building of the
wonderful Padre Pio Community Parish.
Actually, if you were talking about
a garden, it's already been sown and the shoots are coming up. We
added a little water. Behind all our efforts, is the Mighty Spirit
of God.
It was only fitting that we came on
Palm Sunday. The world needs peace and our country needs peace. it
was wonderful to gather with people of peace from so many
countries at Padre Pio.
I know everyone's keen to build the
Church and I was told that maybe I could help bring the chairs in!
Having done that at St Anthony in the Fields many years ago, I
whole-heartedly agreed with the building of a church! Who would
want to carry all those chairs.
There is another building going on.
This building is made of materials that last forever - loving
relationships. The Family Groups are such building blocks.

I believe the 8 Family
Groups that have formed will create bonds of frinedship and love.
Supporting the sick, rejoicing with Birthdays and special feasts
in the church, comforting the sorrowful and welcoming the
stranger.
I recently received
this quotation from the parish of Portland, way down onthe south
coast of Victoria, where the whales come and go in the great
southern ocean. They had just formed a new Family Group.
"Portland is
a fairly small parish and there has been a good mix of people
including 2 families who had been in Family Groups in Hamilton,
Vic, a laicised ex priest now married, a Loreta man, married
couples with children, widowed, divorced and single people, one
lonely family from South Africa and a lady from Argentina! What
a journey they are about to share."
The congregation,
particularly the Family Groups at Padre Pio, are beginning this
journey.
The Lord is in the
boat with them, Padre Pio is watching over them and with great
love and concern, Father Kevin Lee, with his Family Group team, is
guiding them.
