St. Patrick’s at St. Bernadette’s Parish, Castle Hill

On St. Patrick’s Day, there are only two types of people in the world - those who are Irish and those who want to be.

At St. Bernadette’s at Castle Hill, this time-honoured day of celebrating our Irish heritage, customs and culture represented an opportunity by the Family Groups both to foster Parish community and to raise funds for Fr. Peter and his staff at French’s Forest..

On 17 March, over 130 people gathered in the parish hall to enjoy the music provided by many talented parishioners and the traditional Irish dancing courtesy of the Sara Higgins School of Irish Dancers. Tony Kearney & Tina McGuinness played & sang all the old Irish favourites while Fr. John Boyle, our parish priest, did a wonderful rendition of Danny Boy. Throw in some limericks, trivia, a few Irish jokes, and some sing-a-longs to favourite Irish airs and a wonderful night was had by all.

Leprechauns, shamrocks, flags, and balloons adorned the hall and tables resplendent in the colours of the Emerald Isle. All who attended the function, regardless of their origin, came dressed as the sons and daughters of Ireland. Not only was it a very successful parish community function but we were able to raise a much needed donation to help the PFGM office. A great result for every one.
